Job Title: Finishing Machine Operator / Digital Finishing Operator
Location: Newark, California

Compensation: $25.00–$32.00 per hour

About the Role:

A confidential label and packaging manufacturer in Newark, California is looking for a Digital Finishing Operator to support production of pressure-sensitive labels and related products.

This position is responsible for setting up and operating HP digital printing equipment, monitoring print quality, completing required production documentation, performing routine maintenance, and keeping jobs moving efficiently while meeting customer specifications.

What You’ll Do:

• Set up and operate HP digital printing equipment used to produce pressure-sensitive labels and related products.
• Review job orders and production specifications before starting each job.
• Produce high-quality labels that meet customer and job-ticket requirements.
• Load jobs into the press and prepare inks, plates, tools, and other materials as required.
• Adjust press speed and stock alignment to maintain proper production conditions.
• Adjust printing impression as needed.
• Run approval strips and inspect printed samples for imperfections.
• Make necessary adjustments to maintain print quality throughout the run.
• Monitor color, registration, alignment, and overall finished-product quality as applicable to the job.
• Enter production information, including time and materials used, into job management software.
• Maintain accurate inventory and material-usage records.
• Communicate job-specific changes, production concerns, and equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Troubleshoot routine production and equipment issues to help minimize downtime.
• Perform required daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance.
• Complete setups and changeovers safely and efficiently.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with plant safety and housekeeping standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• At least 1 year of previous press operating experience in a printing environment, preferably on digital equipment.
• High school diploma or GED plus relevant production experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Approximately 3 years of related experience and/or training is preferred based on the employer's qualifications.
• Ability to read and follow job orders, specifications, and production instructions.
• Ability to identify print defects and make appropriate machine adjustments.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.
• Ability to stand and walk regularly throughout the shift.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with or without mechanical assistance.
• Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for quality inspection.

Preferred Background:

• Previous experience operating a digital printing press .
• Pressure-sensitive label manufacturing experience.
• Experience in label, packaging, converting, or related print production.
• Experience with roll-fed printed products.
• Familiarity with production tracking or job management software.
• Experience completing preventive maintenance on printing or finishing equipment.
• Participation in equipment-manufacturer or vendor-sponsored training is a plus.
