This is an opportunity to step into a Technical Specialist role at Duraco Specialty Materials. The Technical Specialist plays a key part in supporting technical innovation, laboratory testing, product evaluations, product development, customer requirements, and manufacturing operations.

What the Role Involves
The Technical Specialist is responsible for leading and supporting technical innovation projects, conducting laboratory testing and product evaluations, and providing technical expertise to support product development, customer requirements, and manufacturing operations. This role serves as a key member of the technical team by executing laboratory studies, analyzing data, generating technical documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and product development.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Lead and support technical innovation and product development from concept through commercialization.
• Plan, conduct, and document laboratory testing, evaluations, trials, and experiments to support new product development and process optimization.
• Design and execute test methods to evaluate material performance, product characteristics, process capabilities, and customer-specific requirements.
• Analyze experimental data using statistical and scientific principles and provide technical recommendations based on findings.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project summaries to communicate results, conclusions, and recommendations to management and project teams.
• Interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, formulas, and customer requirements to establish testing protocols and project objectives.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sales, purchasing, and customer service teams to resolve technical issues and support business objectives.
• Develop and maintain laboratory procedures, test methods, technical databases, and project documentation.
• Coordinate and monitor laboratory trials, pilot runs, and production-scale validation activities.
• Investigate product, process, and material-related issues and perform root cause analysis to identify corrective actions and improvement opportunities.
• Create and distribute hand samples, prototype materials, and test samples for customers, suppliers, and internal evaluations.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operating effectively.
• Assist production and operations teams with technical troubleshooting and process support as needed.

• Have a strong technical background and enjoy continuously building knowledge and skills.
• Hands-on experience formulating pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) or developing adhesive formulations.
• A strong understanding of adhesive performance characteristics, including tack, peel, shear, viscosity, solids, and coatability.
• Are detail-oriented, accurate, thorough, and committed to producing quality work.
• Have strong problem-solving skills and can evaluate data to make sound technical recommendations.
• Communicate clearly with technical, quality, manufacturing, sales, customer service, and management teams.
• Are comfortable conducting laboratory testing, documenting results, and maintaining accurate technical records.
• Can interpret specifications, formulas, drawings, and customer requirements to support testing and product development.
• Have experience with laboratory testing, product development, adhesives, coatings, or related technical work.
• Are comfortable using database, design, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
