Catering / Event Manager

The Catering & Events Manager is responsible for driving and executing Southern Chicago's private dining, catering, and special events business. This role owns the full lifecycle of an event, from initial client inquiry and sales through menu planning, logistics, day-of execution, and post-event follow-up. The ideal candidate is equal parts salesperson, operator, and host: someone who can close a booking, manage a budget, coordinate a kitchen and floor team, and leave every client eager to book again.

Sales & Client Relations

• Respond promptly to all private event and catering inquiries, converting leads into confirmed bookings
• Conduct site visits, client consultations, and menu tastings to close sales
• Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and repeat guests to generate referral and repeat business
• Negotiate contracts, deposits, and final invoicing in line with restaurant policy
• Track and report on event revenue, booking pipeline, and monthly/quarterly sales targets

Event Planning & Coordination

• Design custom menus and beverage packages in partnership with the Executive Chef, tailored to each client's budget and occasion
• Manage all event logistics: timelines, floor plans, vendor coordination (AV, florals, rentals), and staffing needs
• Communicate event details clearly and thoroughly to kitchen, bar, and floor teams ahead of each event
• Anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts across the private dining calendar and main restaurant operations

Day-of Execution

• Oversee events on-site from setup through breakdown, ensuring seamless execution and guest satisfaction
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during their event
• Troubleshoot issues in real time and make judgment calls to protect the guest experience
• Coordinate with the service team to ensure staffing levels and timing match the event's needs

Administration & Operations

• Maintain the private events calendar and prevent double-bookings or capacity conflicts
• Manage event budgets, cost tracking, and profitability for each booking
• Process contracts, deposits, and final payments accurately and on time
• Maintain organized records of past events, client preferences, and vendor contacts
• Collaborate with ownership on packages, pricing strategy, and seasonal promotions to grow the events business
