Bookkeeper

Job Overview Thebes USA, the U.S. office of the international advisory firm Thebes Consult, is seeking a meticulous and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a full‑time position based in our Los Angeles, California office. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently to ensure the financial health and compliance of our U.S. operations. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of day‑to‑day bookkeeping and accounting processes. Record financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures. Maintain and balance the general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries. Process accounts payable and receivable in a timely and accurate manner. Conduct regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports. Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Support the preparation of tax returns and collaborate with external accountants as needed. Qualifications Proven professional experience as a Bookkeeper or in a comparable accounting role. A solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles is essential. Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and MS Office, particularly Excel. Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to handle confidential information with discretion. A relevant qualification or certification in accounting or bookkeeping is highly desirable. Benefits A competitive hourly wage of $30 - $49 USD, commensurate with experience.
