Job Description:\n\nDescription: Type: Full-Time Status: Exempt Location: Fresno, California Schedule: Varies; with the ability to work evenings and weekends Salary Range: $115,000-$189,758 Salary ranges listed above represent good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on several factors including but not limited to, the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Benefits: Medical at $60.00 a month for employees, dependent coverage available at pro-rated additional cost (Kaiser, Anthem Blue Cross and Community Health Care options), 100% employer paid dental & vision, 11 paid holidays, PTO accrual up to 15 paid days annually, California Paid Sick leave, additional sick leave accrual and 403b with company match Employee Background Verification: Five-year annual DOJ Verification Authorization requirement. This policy establishes the requirement for 5-year background checks for employees to ensure compliance with specific grants and its associated regulations. Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and provides strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial operations and overall fiscal health. This role is responsible for directing all financial functions, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, budgeting, compliance, audit, investments, and risk management. In close partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and executive leadership team, the CFO develops and implements forward-looking financial strategies that ensure long-term sustainability, growth, and alignment with the organization’s mission. The CFO oversees organizational budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and regulatory compliance, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and transparency of all financial activities. The CFO translates complex financial data into actionable strategic insights, driving informed decision-making across the organization. This role ensures that financial systems, structures, and practices support innovation, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness. The CFO directly supervises the Director of Finance and finance team, maintaining strong internal operations while fostering an enterprise-wide, forward-thinking perspective. The role also establishes and maintains robust internal controls and ensures the timely preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. As the organization’s primary financial representative, the CFO serves as the key liaison to external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, funders, and investment advisors. The CFO promotes strong cross-departmental collaboration, builds financial capacity among leadership and budget managers, and ensures access to timely, accurate financial information for effective fiscal oversight. This position champions a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and empowerment, aligning financial leadership with the organization’s values, mission, and strategic objectives.Requirements: Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities include the following: · Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on financial planning, organizational growth, and long-term sustainability. · Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization’s mission, strategic plan, and growth objectives. · Lead financial modeling, scenario planning, and risk analysis to inform high impact organizational decisions, including expansion, capital projects, and new program development. · Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making, ensuring actionable financial insights are embedded across all levels of the organization. · Serve as the principal financial liaison to the Board of Directors and Finance, Audit, and Investment Committees-fostering strong governance and transparency. · Responsible for presenting financial reports, forecasts, and strategic insights to the Board with clarity, accuracy, and transparency. · Partner with the Board Treasurer and committee leadership to support and strengthen governance, financial oversight, and policy development. · Interface with and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, funders, investment advisors, and regulatory agencies. · Serve as the executive authority over all financial operations, ensuring strategic alignment, performance, and accountability across accounting, reporting, compliance, budgeting, and audit functions through the Director of Finance. · Ensure enterprise-level financial reporting reflects the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, and timeliness, in full alignment with GAAP and organizational governance expectations. · Direct and govern the development of the annual budget and long-range financial forecasts, ensuring enterprise alignment between financial planning, strategic priorities, and sustainable funding models. · Oversee the evaluation of financial performance, driving proactive identification of risks and opportunities and implementing strategic actions to sustain financial health and optimize organizational effectiveness. · Provide executive oversight of the organization’s revenue cycle, ensuring efficient billing and collections processes and maximizing all reimbursable revenue streams. · Lead and govern enterprise risk management, establishing strategies and controls to identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks across the organization. · Provide executive oversight for the development and oversight of comprehensive internal controls, financial systems, and procurement practices to ensure asset protection, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk mitigation. · Oversee organizational compliance, establishing systems and controls to ensure full adherence to regulatory, grant, and nonprofit financial requirements. · Provide executive oversight of all audit processes and regulatory filings (including Form 990, 199, and RRF-1), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to a standard of no audit findings. · Lead and govern the organization’s insurance portfolio, ensuring appropriate coverage, risk transfer strategies, and alignment with overall enterprise risk management. · Oversee the management of organizational investments, reserves, and financial assets, in collaboration with the Investment Committee and financial advisors. · Direct the development and implementation of strategies for long-term financial sustainability, including reserve management and capital planning. · Provide executive oversight to ensure comprehensive visibility, accountability, and control over all financial accounts and organizational assets. · Partner with Development and senior leadership to align financial strategy with fundraising goals, grant funding, and revenue diversification. · Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for financial aspects of grant proposals, funding opportunities, and revenue innovation, with analysis and execution led by the Director of Finance. · Provide executive oversight to ensure accurate reconciliation of donations, pledges, and financial reporting, delegating execution to the finance team in partnership with Development. · Serve as the executive leader of the finance function, providing strategic direction and direct oversight of the Director of Finance and the broader finance team. · Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team and across the organization. · Direct and oversee finance staff development and performance frameworks, with the Director of Finance responsible for day-to- day hiring, training, and management of the team. · Ensure the organization’s leadership is equipped with high-quality financial insights and reporting, delivered through the finance team and guided by the Director of Finance, to drive data-informed decision-making. · Direct the development and ongoing monitoring of organizational financial performance metrics, with execution led by the finance team under the Director of Finance. · Provide executive oversight of the preparation and delivery of all financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and effective communication to leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders. · Collaborate across departments to strengthen financial literacy, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals. · Direct and govern the organization’s strategic financial initiatives, including capital investments, development financing, NMTC projects, and financial system enhancements. · Attend and support agency-wide and fundraising events. · Lead and participate in department and agency-wide meetings as required. · Maintain ongoing executive-level communication with the CEO regarding financial performance, emerging risks, and critical strategic initiatives. · Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: · Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred · 7-10 years in financial management with expert knowledge of GAAP · 3 years’ experience with grant compliance and other non-profit accounting · CPA licensure preferred. · Extensive experience in nonprofit financial management, including grant compliance, fund accounting, and regulatory reporting. · Proven experience working with Boards of Directors and Finance/Audit Committees · Demonstrated success in strategic financial planning and organizational leadership. Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and Tests: · Possession of a valid California driver's license and proof of liability insurance on personal auto. · Must be insurable at all times at standard rate by MMC insurance carrier. · Must successfully pass a drug, background and Tuberculosis test. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: · Deep interest in and commitment to the mission and vision of MMC with a sensitivity to domestic violence. · Demonstrated ability to work with sensitivity and without discrimination towards peoples of diverse cultures, races/ethnicities, socio/economic positions, ages, religions, and genders, physical, mental challenges, disabilities, and sexual orientations. · Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and terminology. Demonstrated ability to use current business software applications, including HRIS and accounting systems, as well as productivity tools, to collate, analyze, and synthesize data and information to provide strategic and operational insights to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.? · Strong hands-on approach with a high level of self-motivation, discipline, initiative, emotional intelligence, accountability, professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and ethics. Must be flexible, adaptable, a creative thinker and problem solver who is also open to the insight of others. · Work well in a team-oriented environment and collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams and culturally diverse internal/external constituencies. · Experience in managing supervisors and staff and proven record of motivating team members to achieve high performance. · Knowledge of contract management and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management implementing best practices, including legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development. · Excellent organization and attention to detail.? · Strong project management skills and ability to identify, evaluate, problem solve, think critically, and direct. · A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.?
