If you want to become a litigator, you need to litigate.

At Spitz, the Employee’s Law Firm , new attorneys don’t spend years waiting for someone to give them meaningful responsibility. You’ll work directly with clients, investigate cases, develop strategy, negotiate settlements, take depositions, argue motions, and prepare cases for trial.

And the work matters.

We represent employees facing wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, unpaid overtime, and violations of their medical and protected-leave rights. Clients often come to us at one of the most difficult points in their careers. Your job is to help them fight back.

What You’ll Do

• Manage and develop your own cases

• Work directly with clients from the beginning

• Take and defend depositions

• Draft and argue substantive motions

• Negotiate with opposing counsel

• Develop case and trial strategy

• Prepare cases for mediation and trial

• Learn directly from experienced trial attorneys

Compensation:

$65,000 - $95,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

What You’ll Do

• Represent employees in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, FMLA, wage and overtime, and other employment claims.
• Meet directly with clients, evaluate claims, and provide practical legal advice.
• Develop case strategy and take ownership of moving cases forward.
• Draft EEOC and state agency charges, demand letters, pleadings, discovery, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Negotiate directly with opposing counsel and participate in mediations and settlement conferences.
• Advocate for clients before the EEOC and state agencies.
• Conduct discovery, analyze evidence, brief legal issues, and prepare cases for trial.
• Work closely with experienced trial attorneys while taking on increasing responsibility based on your performance.
• Build the litigation, negotiation, and courtroom skills needed to become an exceptional employee-rights attorney.

Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice in Ohio, awaiting Ohio bar results, or eligible for prompt admission.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to listen, communicate with empathy, and earn clients’ trust.
• Driven, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work.
• Able to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced litigation practice.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate facts, risks, and strategy.
• Genuine interest in litigation, employment law, civil rights, or employee advocacy.
• Eager to learn, accept feedback, and develop as a litigator.

Employment law experience is a plus, but not required. We care more about intelligence, judgment, work ethic, and the drive to become an exceptional lawyer.
