Work Location: Strictly On-site OIT Application Services, Barry Building, 3185 S. Blair Stone Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32301. (Teleworking is not authorized).



Work Hours: Requires flexibility between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM and/or Saturdays, including possible rotation/on-call schedules.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is seeking an Advanced Database Administrator to support their DBA team. The resource will assist with database/application architecture, data dictionaries, database schemas, database design and optimization, data architecture, and compliance with Department and Agency for State Technology (AST) security standards.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field; OR equivalent work experience.

Required Experience (5+ Years Combined):

• Expert in SQL Server 2012 and above.
• Oracle 10g and above.

Preferred Experience (Plus):

• Experience with Azure SQL.
• Experience with AWS SQL tools.
• Experience managing ArcGIS for Server.
• Experience with GIS and spatial databases.

The primary focus of this role is performing Database (SQL Server, Oracle, GIS) planning and operational activities, including:

• Performing daily operational and database administration activities.
• Planning, designing, implementing, and supporting database structures.
• Conducting database performance monitoring and tuning.
• Developing and maintaining database administration procedures and documentation.
• Performing SQL Code reviews.
• Assisting with training/mentoring other technical staff.
• Supporting database activities for application enhancements and rewrites.
• Performing other database or infrastructure activities as requested.

Job-Specific KSAs:

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of relational database management systems and ESRI SDE Geodatabases.
• Ability to work independently in the technical analysis, evaluation, and resolution of large Enterprise database production issues with minimal assistance.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work assignments.
• Skill in accurately estimating time requirements for database analysis and administration tasks.
• Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Data Analysts to build efficient, long-term solutions.
• Analyzing processes and workflows to design efficient database solutions and prepare complex database specifications.
• Ability to develop and manage relational databases in accordance with Department standards.
