Job Summary Applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of complex patients in a comprehensive manner. Recognizes complex learning needs and prepares individual teaching plans for patients and families, consistently demonstrates effective patient education to peers, and ensures a comprehensive continuum of care plan in collaboration with the health care team. Demonstrates and role models effective communication and conflict resolution skills, ensures evidence‑based care and continuously monitors patient outcomes, furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards, and floats across entities to fulfill requirements of the role. Key Responsibilities Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum. Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis. Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment. Assignments & Compensation Job Types: Temporary during the duration of assignment, working full‑time hours covering shifts most needed by the unit. Short‑Term Assignment Key Benefits: Premium Pay – $65‑75/hr (please see pay variance below); Medical Insurance benefits available through Temp Force; RNs typically work 36‑40 hours per week based on the unit's needs. Location & Shift Locations Available: Vanderbilt University Hospital – Nashville, TN; Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt – Nashville, TN (there may be moves between both within assignment). Unit Available: Medicine Stepdown (8MCE‑MCC14). Shift: Day shift (7a‑7p) – $65/hr; Night shift (7p‑7a) – $75/hr. Length of assignment: Fixed assignment end date of 01/09/2027. Qualifications Registered Nurse required. Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program (or equivalent experience). 1 year of Medicine Stepdown RN experience (preferred 2 or more years of recent experience). Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Registered Nurse, BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Technical Capabilities Care Planning (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility. Patient Education (Novice): Possesses sufficient proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Demonstrates fundamental proficiency to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty, including primary care interviews and physical examinations. Evidence‑Based Practice (Novice): Demonstrates ability to search for evidence to answer clinical questions under direction of others.
