Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Specialist (Cancer Center)

Location: Moody Outpatient Center Core Hours: Monday–Friday 8am–5pm (No Weekends, No Holidays) Primary Purpose Responsible for organizing and coordinating Performance Improvement and Patient Safety activities at a departmental level within Parkland. Minimum Specifications Must have a Bachelor's degree in a health related field. Experience Must have five years of experience working with performance improvement issues. Equivalent Experience May have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification/Registration/Licensure Laboratory Services Only Must be Certified By One Of The Following: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Technologist (MT) - Department of Health Services (HHS) formerly (HEW) Medical Technologist (MT) - American Medical Technologist (AMT) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - national certification agency Nurses Only Must have current RN license or valid temporary license with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license. Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following: American Heart Association American Red Cross Rescuer Military Training Network. Skills or Special Abilities Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of data management and process improvement. Must have knowledge of Joint Commission standards and their interpretation as related to areas of responsibility. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to operate a computer to input and extract information using word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. Must be able to employ effective problem solving and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors. Nurses Only: Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
