Unit Information Location: 4 South, 18 beds Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Neurological and post-procedural patients including post TNK, Neuro IR procedures (Embolizations, angiography), hemorrhages/aneurysms, burr holes, post VP shunt placements, and post craniotomy/craniectomy. Conditions involving respiratory failure, CHF, hypotension, sepsis, acute neurological diagnoses, DKA, and electrolyte abnormalities. Patient Ratios: RN: 1:3 based on acuity CNA: 1:12 Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience required. First-time travelers are accepted with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience. Required Licenses and Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Skills Required Experience managing patients on BiPAP/CPAP. Cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring of hemodynamic lines. Proficient in handling post-surgical drains, tracheostomies, and chest tubes. Ability to manage titratable drips, including but not limited to Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Esmolol, Insulin, Cardene, Nitro, Levophed, and Epinephrine. Support within the Department Assistants available for patient care tasks such as bathing, meals, linen changes, blood sugar checks, temperature checks, and patient toileting. Receptionist/HUC services available for call lights, phone assistance, and patient transportation. 24/7 availability of Rapid Response Team and Hospitalist/Intensivist services. Telemetry monitoring support available. Orientation and Scheduling Orientation for new travelers includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit. Weekend rotation: Every other weekend; may work back-to-back weekends occasionally. Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor holiday per policy.
