Thrive Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Montgomery, Alabama. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/26/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Facility Overview This position is located in Montgomery, AL, at a facility that serves 492 beds. It features a Level I Trauma Center, a Level III NICU, and is designated as a Primary Stroke Center. Position Details We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role is ideal for first-time travelers who possess a minimum of 18 months of experience in MedSurg and/or ICU settings. Experience with Cerner is required for strictly ICU backgrounds, while EPIC experience will also be considered. Unit Information 6 North Trauma Surgical - 23 beds, General Surgery and Vascular surgeries. Skills required include trauma/surgical experience, wound care, and IV skills. 5 South Neuroscience - 33 beds, handling CVA, TBI, and post-trauma patients. Skills required include IV starts, trach care, and wound care. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology - 39 beds, including various patient types except stroke and MI. Chemo experience is preferred. 3 South Orthopedic - 20 beds, focusing on orthopedic and spine patients. Skills required include PCA pumps and dressing changes. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology - 23 beds, managing urology, ENT, and MedSurg patients. Skills required include trach care and CVL dressing changes. Patient Care Expectations Registered Nurses will be expected to maintain a high quality of care while typically managing a patient ratio of 1:4. With a lower patient load, RNs will assist with patient turning, baths, and activities of daily living (ADLs). Required Certifications BLS NIHSS Unit Support The unit is supported by a designated CNA, along with a receptionist/HUC, tele monitoring techs, and an IV/VAT team. Charge nurses are available but rarely take patient assignments. Technology and Equipment Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Cerner (EPIC experience will be considered) IV Pumps: Plum 360 Medication Dispensing: Omnicell Telemetry Monitoring: Monitored by Telemetry Techs, with RNs required to interpret telemetry strips every four hours. Scheduling Information Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend or a total of 4 weekend days per month. Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor holiday per policy. Orientation Details Travelers new to the facility will undergo 24 hours of classroom time followed by 24 hours on the unit. Rehires will have an orientation based on their last date of employment.
