This position provides an opportunity to work with a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment focused on high-quality care. Position Details Location: Montgomery, AL Patient Ratios: 1:4-6, typically 1:4 with support expected for patient care, including bathing and assisting with activities of daily living. Orientation: New travelers will have a structured orientation program consisting of 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit. Scheduling: Weekend rotation with expectations for one major and one minor holiday per year. A schedule cycle of 4 weeks is implemented. Units Overview 6 North Trauma Surgical: Beds: 23 Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular Surgery Skills Required: Trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills. 5 South Neuroscience: Beds: 33 Patient Types: CVA, TBI, seizures, spinal fusion, craniotomy. Skills Required: IV starts, trach care, PEG/NGT care, wound care. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: Beds: 39 Patient Types: Various, excluding stroke and myocardial infarction. Skills Required: Chemo administration preferred, wound care, IV starts. 3 South Orthopedic: Beds: 20 Patient Types: Orthopedic (joint replacements, fractures, etc.) Skills Required: PCA pumps, wound care, foley management. 3 North MedSurg/Ortho/Urology: Beds: 23 Patient Types: Urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg. Skills Required: Trach care, IV starts, wound care. Qualifications Minimum of 18 months of experience in MedSurg and/or ICU required. Experience with Cerner is necessary for ICU positions. BLS and NIHSS certifications are mandatory. Telemetry experience is highly valued. Support on the Unit CNA to patient ratio: 1:10-12 Receptionist/Health Unit Coordinator available Phlebotomy support present Telemetry monitoring through dedicated tech Technological Requirements EMR: Cerner (Epic is considered for candidates with relevant experience) IV pumps: Plum 360 Medication dispensing: Omnicell Telemetry monitored by Telemetry Technicians, with RN interpretation required.
