Billing & Accounting Specialist

Job Description

A well-established law firm is seeking a Billing & Accounting Specialist to join its team in St. Louis. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside a long-tenured team member prior to retirement, allowing for a comprehensive training and transition period.


The ideal candidate will have experience with accounting functions and legal billing, although candidates with strong accounting backgrounds and an eagerness to learn will also be considered.


Key Responsibilities:

• Process and manage client billing and invoicing
• Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
• Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collections efforts
• Maintain accurate financial records and reporting
• Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end accounting processes
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff regarding billing inquiries and adjustments
• Support the firm's day-to-day accounting operations

Qualifications:

• Prior legal billing experience preferred
• Accounting, bookkeeping, A/R, and A/P experience required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with accounting and billing software
• Experience with Orion software is a plus, but not required
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
