Temper Oven Operator — 1st Shift

Location: Southeast Grand Rapids, MI
Shift: 1st Shift (Monday – Friday 6 AM – 3:30 PM)

• Day 1 | 8 AM start time

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Position Summary
The Temper Oven Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the tempering oven used to heat-treat glass products. This position stages and processes glass according to production schedules and customer specifications while ensuring products are completed on time, meet quality standards, and are produced safely and cost-effectively.

Essential Responsibilities
Production

• Ensure the production of quality products on time, safely, and at the lowest possible cost.
• Demonstrate respectfulness, positivity, and a strong work ethic on the production floor.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and specifications to understand glass requirements.
• Operate the tempering oven smoothly and efficiently for all heat-treated glass.
• Stage and process glass according to production requirements.
• Ensure the tempering oven meets daily square-foot production goals.
• Read, follow, and complete the daily production schedule for the tempering furnace.

Quality

• Ensure all products meet SGP quality standards, which are based on applicable ASTM standards.
• Monitor finished glass for compliance with product, dimensional, and safety glazing requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, glass-processing, or machine-operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to monitor equipment settings and make process adjustments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
