Job Description TITLE: High School Physics Teacher TYPE OF POSITION: Full time (1.0); 2026-2027 school year; salary commensurate with experience and education, as set forth in the agreement between the Seekonk School Department and the Seekonk Educators Association START DATE: August 25, 2026 LOCATION: Seekonk High School AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates REPORTS TO: Building Principal QUALIFICATIONS Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Physics (8-12) by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, preferred Valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Physics 8-12 is required Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, adults, parents, colleagues, and staff Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies Experience in teaching honors, Advanced Placement, or computer science courses is a plus Experience teaching Project Lead The Way is also preferred Ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Planning and implementing standards-based lessons with clear objectives Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students (modify, scaffold, etc. for Special Education and English Language Learners) Using a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward mastery of grade-level standards and to modify further instruction Providing a motivating, stimulating, safe, and supportive learning environment Adapting science lessons for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students Developing and maintaining pupil-teacher relationships conducive to effective teaching and learning, fostering a safe environment in which students can thrive Maintaining a growth mindset Demonstrating understanding of a variety of cultures, including their values, traditions, and communication styles, and incorporating that knowledge into instruction Establishing and maintaining standards and expectations of student behavior Participating in school-wide and department-wide professional development activities Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community, and collaborating with colleagues on curriculum, lesson planning, and assessment design Proficient use of instructional technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom Other duties, as assigned according to the SEA contract Equal Opportunity / Affidative Action Employer The Seekonk Public Schools strives to provide a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment in which all students can thrive and succeed in its schools.
