Seasonal Forest & Park Supervisor I Location: Fall River Heritage State Park. Start Date: ASAP; End Date: 11/14/26. Number of positions: 1. Duties Supervise and perform work related to the seasonal operation, administration, and maintenance of the assigned facility, including grounds maintenance, building and equipment maintenance and repair, and recreational programming. Supervise assigned staff performing visitor recreation and/or education services, facility maintenance, and resource protection programs. Assign work, schedule staff, conduct performance reviews, and provide staff development and training. Maintain, communicate, and enforce professional standards for visitor services, staff appearance, facility maintenance, public safety, and resource protection. Develop and maintain professional and service relationships with Friends groups, users, and other interested organizations. Communicate park activities, incidents, and programs to other departmental staff; prepare written reports and electronic communication. Prepare reports and maintain records of daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal operations to provide information and make appropriate recommendations. Coordinate activities and work of volunteers, court‑referred individuals, and others. Perform related duties such as determining supply needs, operating and maintaining equipment and vehicles, providing public information, interviewing candidates, providing on‑the‑job training, and using small hand tools. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards, and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. Knowledge of the geographic composition of the assigned work area. Knowledge of the types and uses of agency forms. Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of supervising others. Minimum Entrance Requirements At least two (2) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time technical or professional experience in forestry, parks, or recreational management; or an equivalent combination of experience and the following substitutions: Associate’s degree or higher with a major in forestry, natural resources management, or parks and recreation management may be substituted for the required experience. Special requirement: possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. First consideration will be given to applicants who apply within the first 14 days. Compensation Salary range compensation by hours worked is determined by experience, seniority, agency budget, and nature of the role. For union‑represented roles, compensation follows the applicable bargaining unit salary schedule rules and regulations.
