About the Position

Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required. License: Indiana RN license or compact license required. Certifications: BLS through AHA required. Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in a large hospital with over 600 beds. Description: General Medical and surgical nursing care required. The unit sees a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. Management of GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases is part of the role. Infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, and c-diff are also managed. Care for patients with neurological issues including stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries is provided. Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse may also need attention. Patients may undergo procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. Essential skills include assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, and utilization of the EHR. Experience with IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and management of heparin and insulin drips is required. Equipment utilized includes electronic records, medication dispensing machines, blood glucose monitoring systems, IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring. The position involves floating to other medical units based on need. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. Weekends may be required, with three weekend shifts in four weeks. Dress code requires Caribbean blue scrubs. A general hospital orientation and nursing orientation, including EPIC classes, will be part of the training. Cancellation policy allows for calls up to 24 hours before the start of a shift. Charting system used includes EPIC.
