Assistant Service Manager

William Penn Village, 595 Tulip Ln, New Castle, Delaware, United States of America Job Description We are seeking an Assistant Service Manager with a "Whatever It Takes" approach to join our team! In this full-time role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the physical aspects of this 347-unit apartment community in New Castle, DE (William Penn) meet both company standards and applicable laws. Responsibilities Manage, develop, and mentor a team of technicians in diagnosing problems and making repairs. Support and help oversee daily production schedules, including work orders, unit turns, and preventative maintenance across a high-volume community. Provide expert knowledge and troubleshooting in areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, dry walling, exterior structure, and repairs related to top service drivers. Be accountable for supporting and participating in a 24-hour on‑call schedule for your team, including availability during weather‑related or on‑site emergencies. Manage and organize inventory of all maintenance materials to ensure efficiency and readiness. Regularly inspect community buildings, including vacant units. Complete tasks assigned by the Service Manager. Compensation & Incentives Base Pay: $22.50 – $27.00 / hour Up to 50% Rent Discount Property Staff Shared Renewal Commissions On‑Call Appreciation: $15/day for holding the on‑call phone Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match Generous Paid Time Off, including 10 holidays per year and sick leave Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Paid rotating on‑call participation required Must be available and prepared for emergency events Schedule subject to change based on business need Requirements Active and valid driver’s license and personal vehicle. Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience, with multifamily or transferable industry experience. Experience supporting or leading a team in a fast‑paced environment preferred. Comfortable with technology platforms, including mobile apps, email, training systems.
