Job Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

• Will process donated clothes, house wares, books, toys, jewelry, shoes and miscellaneous items for sale. This is done through pre-sorting, sorting, grading, cleaning, hanging and packaging
• May separate (pre-sorts) items according to predetermined classification or criteria
• Separates (sorts) and grades items into goods saleable at the regular stores
• Removes surface dirt from glassware and small ware placing items, which are not complete and/or broken into containers for the As-Is or trash
• Puts saleable clothes on to hangers
• Tags and/or prices items
• Places items into containers and puts appropriate storage label on container
• Works with clients who are assigned for vocational services as requested
• Follows and enforces all company procedures
• Performs other duties as requested

Requirements

• Knowledge of general arithmetic (adding/subtracting) is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic ability to read and write in English

Equipment Used

• Racks, plastic pallets, barrels, watermelon boxes, pallet jack dolly, tag gun, pricing gun, wheeled carts.

Aptitudes/skills/temperament

• Ability to perform routine work, adapting to change as it relates to workflow
• Ability to maintain self-control and work in cooperation with co-workers
• Ability to coordinate hand-eye-foot movement to quickly manipulate and handle item
• Ability to examine items and visually differentiating between them based on quality standards
• Ability to meet and maintain established standards

Qualifications

Working conditions

• Work is performed in a large enclosed warehouse area with even concrete floor surface. The area is heated and has natural ventilation. The temperature will fluctuate depending on locations within the department.
• Dust and dirt is controlled by daily cleaning of the work area. Some items may be soiled/dirty or broken. These are either cleaned or disposed of following established procedures. A variety of household cleaning products are used. Work is completed independently but in cooperation with the whole department.
• The noise volume is moderately high throughout the day depending on the amount of activity, equipment in operation, radio operation and television testing.
• Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, moveable containers) may be operated in or near work areas.

Emotional Effort

• The job is routine with occasional periods of high activity/demand requiring little or no overtime to complete the work

Physical Requirements

• The work pace is steady, requiring lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs consistently. On a regular basis heavier item of up to 50 lbs will be lifted/carried either with assistance from another person or by using appropriate material handling equipment.
• Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform the required tasks.

Pay Range

$18.45 per hour
