I&C Design Engineer Lead

Job Title: I&C Design Engineer
Location: Bellevue, WA
Type: Contract
Compensation: $69.00 - $115.00 per hour
Work Model: Onsite – onsite

Responsibilities:
• Provide system design, prototype development and testing, plant level system integration, and commissioning for Sodium Fast Reactor technologies
• Interface with a team of scientists and engineers, supporting geographically diverse and international design team members
• Develop and review system- and component-level specifications and scopes of work
• Perform engineering and design evaluations in compliance with nuclear codes, standards, licensing requirements, and NRC regulations
• Specify instrumentation measurement techniques, analyzing measurement range, response time, and accuracy
• Develop and review technical design documents including System Requirements, System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, and Engineering Design Specifications
• Create and manage system and component drawing packages such as P&IDs, control system architecture, control logic diagrams, and instrument installation drawings
• Coordinate with suppliers, oversee technical reviews, and ensure delivery of data and deliverables aligned with project requirements
• Support licensing activities related to Safety Analysis Reports
• Assist in project planning, analyzing design changes, and applying change control principles
• Lead or support design of I&C and supporting electrical systems from requirements through final design

Requirements
• B.S. or higher in Controls, Electrical, or related discipline from an accredited university
• 10+ years of direct experience with instrumentation and controls systems design and development
• Proven skills in diagnostics, industrial I&C platforms, and data reporting
• Experience with nuclear reactor safety systems and instrumentation design (desired but not required)
• Familiarity with IEEE and IEC standards (desired)
• Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance standards such as 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1
• Experience designing for high-temperature processes (desired)
• Ability to handle multiple projects with conflicting objectives and resolve conflicts efficiently
• Experience with process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID) (desired)
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks (desired)
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Self-starter with leadership ability to coordinate and lead design efforts with minimal supervision
• Capable of working on multiple tasks requiring a multidisciplinary approach
• Experience with I&C system startup testing procedures (desired)
• High degree of integrity, open communication, and teamwork orientation
