Operations Manager

Insulation Commandos – Knoxville, Tennessee

Insulation Commandos of Knoxville is looking for an experienced, highly motivated Operations Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is excited about helping build and grow a business.

This is not a traditional desk-only management position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats , jumping in wherever needed, and taking ownership of the day-to-day operation. The ideal candidate will bring several years of operations, management, construction, home services, or related experience and have the leadership skills and drive to grow into a key member of our organization.

What You’ll Do

As Operations Manager, you will initially focus on learning our business, managing daily operations, coordinating crews and jobs, delivering an excellent customer experience, and helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Over the first six months, our goal is for you to develop a strong understanding of all aspects of the business and become capable of stepping into multiple roles when needed—including operations management, crew leadership, field support, customer service, and sales .

Responsibilities may include:

• Manage and coordinate daily field operations, schedules, crews, materials, and job assignments
• Lead, motivate, and hold team members accountable for quality, productivity, safety, and customer service
• Learn the insulation installation process and be willing to work alongside and lead crews when necessary
• Develop the ability to serve as a Crew Chief and oversee jobs from start to finish
• Meet with homeowners and customers, evaluate their needs, explain solutions, and assist with estimates and sales
• Follow up with customers and help convert opportunities into scheduled projects
• Monitor job quality and ensure work meets company standards
• Troubleshoot issues in the field and find practical solutions quickly
• Assist with recruiting, training, and developing team members as the business grows
• Help manage inventory, equipment, vehicles, and materials
• Maintain accurate job documentation and communication
• Work closely with ownership to improve processes, increase efficiency, grow revenue, and build the Knoxville operation
• Step into whatever role is necessary to keep the business and customer experience moving forward

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is a leader, problem-solver, multitasker, and self-starter . You should be comfortable changing priorities throughout the day and moving between managing people, solving an operational issue, talking with a customer, supporting a crew, and helping close a sale.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Several years of operations, management, field leadership, construction, home services, or similar experience
• Proven ability to lead and manage employees or crews
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills
• Confidence interacting directly with homeowners and customers
• A willingness and ability to learn sales and participate in the sales process
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions independently
• A hands-on mentality and willingness to work in the field when needed
• The ability to manage multiple jobs, employees, customers, and priorities simultaneously
• A strong work ethic, sense of accountability, and ownership mentality
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with a field-based home-services business

Experience in insulation is helpful but not required . Experience in construction, HVAC, roofing, restoration, pest control, landscaping, plumbing, electrical, remodeling, or another home-service environment may translate very well to this position.

What Success Looks Like

Within approximately six months, the successful candidate should be capable of functioning as a true right hand to ownership —someone who understands the operation from the ground up and can confidently manage crews, oversee projects, interact with customers, assist with sales, solve problems, and step into the field when necessary.
