Position Summary We are seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical Financial Consulting Analyst to support our client consulting engagements. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting who wants to apply their accounting knowledge in a consulting and financial analysis environment. The Financial Consulting Analyst will prepare financial and operational reports for small‑business owners, organize and analyze client data, maintain financial models and dashboards, and help our consulting team identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Most of this position will be focused on supporting client consulting work. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting and Analysis Prepare recurring financial reports for small‑business owners and leadership teams. Organize income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and other financial information into clear, client‑ready reports. Calculate and monitor key financial metrics, including revenue growth, gross profit, labor costs, operating expenses, operating profit, cash flow, and accounts receivable trends. Compare actual financial results to budgets, forecasts, goals, and prior periods. Identify significant trends, variances, inconsistencies, and areas requiring further review. Assist with budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow projections, and scenario analyses. Help translate financial data into clear observations and actionable business insights. Operational Reporting Prepare and maintain operational scorecards, dashboards, and key performance indicator reports. Collect and organize information from accounting systems, time‑tracking platforms, payroll systems, customer relationship management systems, and other business tools. Analyze operational metrics such as sales pipeline, close rates, utilization, productivity, labor efficiency, project profitability, capacity, customer retention, recurring revenue, and revenue per employee. Review reports for completeness, accuracy, and consistency before they are presented to clients. Help improve and streamline recurring reporting processes. Financial Models and Excel Support Build, update, and maintain Excel‑based financial models, schedules, and reporting tools. Clean, organize, combine, and validate data from multiple sources. Use formulas, pivot tables, charts, and other Excel tools to analyze and present information. Maintain clearly labeled assumptions, formulas, supporting schedules, and source data. Test financial models and reports for accuracy before delivery. Help standardize templates and improve internal reporting tools. Consulting and Client Support Prepare materials for client meetings, financial strategy sessions, leadership meetings, and quarterly planning sessions. Support consultants with research, data analysis, and client follow‑up items. Document key findings, decisions, assumptions, and action items. Participate in internal client‑review meetings and, as experience develops, selected client meetings. Help communicate financial information in straightforward language that small‑business owners can understand. Develop an understanding of each client’s business model, revenue streams, cost structure, goals, and key performance indicators. Quality and Process Improvement Review all work carefully for accuracy, consistency, formatting, and professional presentation. Follow established reporting, documentation, and file‑management processes. Identify opportunities to automate or streamline repetitive tasks. Assist with developing internal templates, procedures, and training materials. Protect confidential client and company information. Ask thoughtful questions and take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field. Recent graduates and candidates with up to two years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with formulas, XLOOKUP, or VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts, and structured workbooks. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to organize information and manage multiple deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team. Willingness to learn, ask questions, accept feedback, and take ownership of work. Ability to communicate financial information in clear, practical language. Preferred Qualifications Internship or work experience involving financial analysis, reporting, audit, consulting, or corporate accounting. Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements. Experience working with small businesses or service‑based businesses. Familiarity with QuickBooks Online or other accounting systems. Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, or data visualization. Familiarity with Power BI, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or other analytical and automation tools. Interest in consulting, business operations, profitability, and helping small‑business owners succeed. What Success Looks Like Prepare accurate, professional client reports with increasing independence. Understand the relationship between financial results and operational performance. Identify trends, discrepancies, and questions that should be raised with the consulting team. Maintain reliable dashboards, scorecards, forecasts, and financial models. Consistently meet deadlines and communicate early when additional information is needed. Explain financial information clearly without relying on unnecessary accounting terminology.
