ABOUT THE ROLE

The Quest Director will be located at IslandQuest Day Camp and will lead a team in planning and delivering a nurturing, educational environment that promotes optimal social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development for campers. Reporting directly to the Program Director, Assistant Program Director, Associate Camp Director, and Camp Director, the Quest Director ensures high‑quality camp experiences.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Agency Expectations Support agency initiatives by carrying out assigned duties accurately and efficiently, following established processes and contributing to basic data collection, reporting, or documentation. Use agency resources responsibly by following established procedures, safeguarding equipment and materials, and supporting cost‑effective operations. Work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and cross‑department teams to ensure clear communication, timely task completion, and a positive, respectful work environment. Follow all safety protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for staff, partners, and the public, and promptly report concerns or incidents. Role Expectations Attend all weekly program meetings starting in March and pre‑camp orientations on May 29‑30, June 7, June 14, and June 28. Work all days—Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm from June 29 to August 21 and be reachable by phone until 6:30 pm. Maintain current First Aid RTE and CPR Pro certification before the start of camp. Develop and implement Quest curriculum and lesson plans in collaboration with specialist staff, ensuring programs meet camp goals and camper abilities. Coordinate schedules, manage inventory and supplies, and oversee the daily organization of the Quest area. Supervise and support program specialists through ongoing feedback, communication, and end‑of‑summer evaluations. Ensure all activities follow camp safety and educational guidelines, including equipment and facility checks. Monitor program success, evaluate camper growth and skill development, and adjust activities as needed. Collaborate with camp leadership and staff to support theme days, special events, scheduling coverage, and overall camp operations.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES

Minimum Qualifications 2–3 years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the program area. Ability to positively communicate and relate to youth and adults. Understanding of youth development needs. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a Commonpoint role is a plus. Bilingual. Master’s degree in Education or related field. Current instructional certification in program area or related experience (preferred, not required). Key Attributes Ability to work effectively with all age levels. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The position offers a competitive base salary benchmarked against comparable nonprofit organizations in the New York metropolitan area. Salary offers are based on internal and external equity and the role’s scope, qualifications, and impact. Salary offers are set according to established salary bands and are not subject to negotiation. New hires typically start near the beginning of the salary range to allow for growth based on performance, professional development, and tenure.

WORKING CONDITIONS & JOB DETAILS

Working Conditions Outdoors; be prepared for extended walking. Exposure to loud noise or extreme heat. Essential physical requirements: climbing, standing, stooping, or swimming. Late nights or overnights may be required depending on the group placement. Bus transportation from local hubs is offered.
