INTERMITTENT INTERPRETER – ARABIC
Intermittent Interpreters provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services during court proceedings, including testimony of parties and witnesses, oral arguments, and motions. They may also assist court staff in customer service settings and provide sight translations as needed. They work in courtroom or office settings, interacting with judges, court staff, attorneys, and the public. Responsibilities Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services during courtroom proceedings. Assist court staff in customer service settings. Provide sight translations when required. Maintain confidentiality and neutrality during all interpreting engagements. Salary Rate Paid $47.20 per hour, with a four‑hour minimum guaranteed paid time (provided the interpreter signs up for the full half‑day session). Additional hours beyond four are paid hourly. Minimum Qualifications Valid and current certification as a “Certified Court Interpreter” in Arabic issued by the Judicial Council of California. Ability to accurately provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services in Arabic.
