We are seeking a dedicated SUD Clinical Supervisor to provide operational and clinical leadership for SUD services within an assigned clinic. This position directly supervises SUDPs and SUDPTs and is responsible for staff performance and development, clinical practice, documentation, regulatory compliance, and consistent delivery of high-quality substance use disorder treatment services.

The SUD Clinical Supervisor reports to the Director of Recovery Programs with dotted-line reporting to the Clinic Administrator and works closely with Recovery Programs Leadership and Clinic Leadership to support integrated, whole-person care.

Position Summary

The SUD Clinical Supervisor provides operational and clinical supervision for SUDPs and SUDPTs, with direct responsibility for staffing and scheduling, attendance, performance management, professional development, clinical practice, documentation, member care lists, and quality of SUD services.

This position supports consistent clinical practice and ensures SUD services align with organizational policies, applicable regulatory requirements, ethical standards, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and person-centered treatment.

The SUD Clinical Supervisor works in close partnership with the Clinic Administrator and Clinic Leadership to support effective daily operations while maintaining responsibility for the supervision, performance, and clinical practice of assigned SUD staff.

Key Responsibilities

SUD Clinical Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide operational and clinical supervision to SUDPs and SUDPTs in accordance with applicable Washington State requirements and organizational standards.
  • Conduct required clinical supervision, regular 1:1s, case consultation, coaching, and professional development.
  • Provide clinical guidance related to assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, member engagement, clinical decision-making, and other SUD services within staff scope of practice.
  • Review clinical documentation and conduct chart audits to support quality, timeliness, medical necessity, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor member care lists, service delivery, and clinical workload and address barriers affecting member access, continuity of care, or clinical quality.
  • Identify training and development needs and provide or coordinate education and coaching to strengthen clinical practice.
  • Lead onboarding and clinical development of newly hired SUDPs and SUDPTs.

Staff Leadership & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage staff schedules, approve timecards and time-off requests, coordinate coverage, and address attendance and scheduling concerns.
  • Establish clear expectations for performance, communication, professional conduct, documentation, clinical practice, and accountability.
  • Monitor staff performance and address performance, conduct, attendance, communication, documentation, or clinical-practice concerns in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development and career growth.
  • Develop and manage performance improvement or corrective action plans in partnership with the Director of Recovery Programs and Human Resources when appropriate.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and retention of SUD staff.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of supervision, coaching, and performance discussions.

SUD Services & Member Care

  • May maintain a member care list and provide direct counseling, case management, groups, and other SUD services based on program and member needs.
  • Promote consistent use of harm reduction, trauma-informed, person-centered, and evidence-informed approaches throughout SUD services.
  • Support SUD staff with complex member needs, engagement challenges, treatment planning, care coordination, and clinical concerns.
  • Support consistent delivery of individual counseling, groups, case management, and other SUD services.
  • Promote ethical practice, appropriate professional boundaries, and respectful, nonjudgmental member interactions.

Clinic Leadership & Operational Alignment

  • Maintain regular communication with the Clinic Administrator and Clinic Leadership regarding SUD staffing, coverage, member needs, clinic workflow, service delivery, and operational barriers.
  • Coordinate SUD staffing and coverage with clinic leadership to support member access and continuity of services.
  • Maintain regular collaboration with Recovery Programs Leadership to support coordination of SUD and recovery services, programming, member engagement, and organizational priorities.
  • Participate as an active member of clinic leadership, contributing clinical perspective to operational planning, problem-solving, member concerns, and decisions affecting service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, peer, administrative, and other clinic leaders to support coordinated, multidisciplinary, whole-person care.
  • Support implementation of operational changes, programming, and organizational initiatives in coordination with the leaders responsible for those areas.

Quality, Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures housed in SharePoint and the Employee Handbook and ensure consistent implementation and adherence within the SUD team.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and organizational standards affecting SUD treatment services.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, quality reviews, and corrective actions related to SUD services within the scope of the role.
  • Identify documentation, clinical quality, compliance, or service-delivery trends and implement appropriate coaching, training, or corrective action.
  • Support consistent clinical workflows and documentation standards.
  • Ensure protection of member confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and organizational privacy requirements.

Collaboration & Program Development

  • Maintain regular communication with the Director of Recovery Programs and Recovery Programs Leadership regarding SUD service quality, staffing, clinical trends, program needs, significant concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other SUD Clinical Supervisors and Recovery Programs Leadership to support consistency in clinical practice, programming, and SUD services across WeCare Daily Clinics.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary planning and problem-solving to address barriers affecting member engagement, retention, treatment progress, and continuity of care.
  • Support development and implementation of groups, clinical programming, workflows, and other initiatives designed to strengthen SUD and recovery services.
  • Engage with external partners when appropriate to support care coordination and continuity of services for members.

  • Experience providing clinical supervision, coaching, staff development, and performance management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, clinical decision-making, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary work while maintaining clear clinical and professional boundaries.

Preferred

  • Experience in an Opioid Treatment Program, medication for opioid use disorder setting, or other regulated SUD treatment environment.
  • Experience leading SUD services within a multidisciplinary healthcare or behavioral health setting.
  • Experience supporting clinical quality improvement, program development, or regulatory readiness.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and regulatory requirements applicable to opioid treatment and behavioral health services.
