Job Title: Sanitation - Production Worker ( Food Manufacturing )
Job Description
This role focuses on sanitation and production within a flavor and fragrance manufacturing environment. You will operate equipment to accurately use raw ingredients, support flavor product creation, and maintain strict safety, quality, and sanitation standards. The position starts on 1st shift with a training start time of 9:00 a.m., transitioning to a regular 6:00 a.m. start, and is a contract role expected to run until October. However, performing well can result in a long term opportunity.
Responsibilities

• Operate production and sanitation equipment to accurately handle raw ingredient materials and create flavor products according to established formulas and procedures.
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures relevant to the role, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
• Utilize tools and electronic/computer systems for compounding, blending, mixing, and container filling in a precise and efficient manner.
• Use computers, scan guns, and other tools to correctly match ingredients to shop orders and verify that materials are accurately identified.
• Follow production, safety, quality, and operational procedures to verify and record information throughout the production and sanitation process.
• Ensure proper ventilation is maintained and use appropriate safety equipment and personal protective equipment at all times while working.
• Develop a clear understanding of Quality Control requirements, including sampling, product testing, and swabbing of equipment, and follow all related policies.
• Perform sanitizing and cleaning tasks on equipment and work areas to maintain a hygienic production environment in line with GMP and FDA standards.
• Handle materials safely and efficiently, including lifting, moving, and organizing raw ingredients and finished products.
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and FDA regulations while carrying out production, compounding, and sanitation activities.
• Accurately read and follow production formulas, procedures, and directions to properly identify products and ensure correct mixing and blending.
• Use a tape measure and perform basic math calculations, including ratios and weighing of product, to support accurate production and sanitation processes.
• Communicate clearly in English to understand instructions, document production and sanitation activities, and work effectively with team members.
• Work independently and take initiative in a small team environment, ensuring tasks are completed thoroughly and on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production, sanitation, and operational needs.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of manufacturing or production experience, ideally in a pharmaceutical, food, or nutraceutical environment, performing lifting, blending, machine operating, and related tasks.
• Hands-on experience with production, compounding, sanitizing, blending, mixing, and material handling in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of machine operating and production processes, including safe setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of and emphasis on safety practices, including proper use of safety equipment and adherence to safety procedures.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math skills, including ratios and weighing of product for accurate compounding and mixing.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as they relate to production and sanitation activities.
• Ability to follow procedures and written directions to properly identify products and follow formulas precisely.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English to interpret work instructions, safety guidelines, and production documentation.
• Ability to lift 50-75+ pounds on a regular basis as part of material handling and production duties.
• Demonstrated good attitude, strong motivation, and ability to learn new processes and equipment quickly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in environments governed by GMP and FDA regulations, such as pharmaceutical, food, or nutraceutical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with spray equipment and related production tools used in flavor or fragrance manufacturing.
• Comfort using computers, scan guns, and electronic systems for ingredient matching, data entry, and production tracking.
• Understanding of quality control practices, including sampling, product testing, and equipment swabbing.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, taking initiative and ownership of tasks in a small team setting.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Work Environment
The role is based in a flavor and fragrances manufacturing facility that focuses on sweet flavor profiles such as strawberry, root beer, and peanut butter. The environment is regulated by GMP and FDA standards, with a strong emphasis on safety, sanitation, and quality control. You will work on 1st shift, with a training start time of 9:00 a.m. and a regular start time of 6:00 a.m., in a small operation of approximately 15 people where working independently and taking initiative is important. The work involves regular lifting of 50-75+ pounds, operating production and sanitation equipment, and using computers and scan guns in a production setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
