Patient Service Representative

*Position Summary* The Patient Services Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, delivering exceptional customer service while supporting daily front office operations. This role is responsible for patient registration, appointment coordination, insurance verification, payment collection, and maintaining accurate medical records to ensure a seamless patient experience.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.
* Assist patients throughout the check-in and check-out process, ensuring a positive and efficient experience.
* Address patient inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
* Promote patient satisfaction initiatives and assist with patient feedback and survey participation.
* Complete patient registration activities, including demographic updates, consent forms, HIPAA documentation, and insurance verification.
* Verify insurance eligibility for federal, state, and commercial health plans at each patient encounter.
* Confirm primary and secondary insurance coverage, update payer information, and maintain accurate insurance records.
* Review insurance cards and government-issued identification to ensure accurate patient and coverage information.
* Collect patient financial responsibilities, including co-payments, co-insurance, share-of-cost amounts, and self-pay balances.
* Maintain accurate provider schedules, coordinating appointments for physicians, advanced practice providers, laboratory services, nursing visits, and other ancillary services.
* Conduct appointment reminder calls, no-show outreach, and follow-up scheduling activities.
* Answer and route incoming telephone calls professionally and efficiently.
* Support electronic medical record (EMR) management by filing, retrieving, updating, and forwarding patient records as needed.
* Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

*Qualifications*
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical front office, patient access, or healthcare administrative role.
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing insurance eligibility and verification for commercial, federal, and state-sponsored health plans.
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience using electronic medical records (EMR), patient registration systems, and scheduling software.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
* Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
*Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Los Angeles, CA 90059.
*Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
