Patient Service Representative - Goldberg Migraine Clinic

Description The Department of Neurology is seeking a customer-focused Patient Service Representative to provide administrative and patient support services in a dynamic clinical setting. Reporting to the Clinic Manager, this role serves as a key point of contact for patients, delivering exceptional service while supporting clinic operations and upholding UCLA Health's CI-CARE standards. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments through the electronic medical record system, verifying insurance eligibility and obtaining authorizations, maintaining accurate patient demographic information, and managing patient registration and check-in processes. In this role, you will also collect payments, ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures, and serve as a liaison between patients, providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members to promote a seamless patient experience. This position plays an important role in supporting high-quality patient care and the efficient operation of the Department of Neurology. Hourly range: $ Qualifications Required: Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with Faculty, Staff, Administration and patients from various social, cultural and economic backgrounds. Ability to creatively integrate competing demands into a productive working environment. Skill in verbal communications to clearly convey complex problems in both formal and informal situations. Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with a patient population in varying degrees of health Ability to provide coverage for Community Clinics as assigned. Preferred: Knowledge of specific specialty practice and workflows (Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine, and Cardiology). Familiarity and knowledge of authorization process & managed care programs Knowledge of major medical insurance plans and types of coverage provided. Working knowledge of patient related policies and procedures as well as a thorough understanding of the University system and it services and programs. Skill in using a PC with associated programs including Word, Excel, and Email. Knowledge of hospital computer systems, personal computer systems and the various software products to perform administrative work.
