Data Center Development Manager

The data center development arm of a global business giant is seeking a technically strong development professional to work directly alongside the Head of U.S. Data Center Development. This is not a real estate development role; applicants should have a technical background in data center planning, design, engineering, architecture, or infrastructure development and be comfortable assessing site feasibility, utility constraints, and data center capacity. This is a highly visible position at the intersection of data center planning, design, site selection, and development strategy. You will help evaluate prospective sites, determine development feasibility, coordinate external consultants, and support the growth of a large-scale U.S. data center portfolio. The role is well suited to an architect, planner, engineer, design manager, technical consultant, or development professional with experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, and other large data center infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Evaluate prospective development sites and assess their suitability for hyperscale data center deployment. Analyze site constraints, utility availability, land use considerations, and development risks. Develop high-level site plans, capacity studies, and infrastructure strategies to maximize IT load potential. Coordinate external architects, engineers, planners, and technical consultants through feasibility and design phases. Support site selection, due diligence, entitlement, and development activities. Partner closely with senior leadership on development strategy, investment decisions, and project execution. Interface with utilities, landowners, consultants, and other external stakeholders. Translate technical findings into clear recommendations for business and development teams. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline. 4–10 years of experience in data center development, design, engineering, technical advisory, or infrastructure projects. Ability to assess site feasibility, utility constraints, and development risks for large-scale projects. Understanding of power infrastructure, capacity planning, and the factors that drive data center density and IT load. Experience coordinating architects, engineers, and external consultants through planning and design phases. Comfortable reviewing technical drawings, studies, and consultant deliverables and translating findings into business recommendations.
