Sr. Vice President/Principal/Managing Director, GP Solutions (Austin)

Sr. Vice President/Principal/Managing Director, GP Solutions – Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Hawkeye Partners is seeking a senior investment professional to join the GP Solutions team and help build the platform during and after the Fund's initial capital raise. Reporting to the Partner and Head of GP Solutions, this senior investment role will span the full lifecycle of sponsor relationships and investments, including sourcing, underwriting, structuring, Investment Committee execution, and post-closing relationship management. Target sectors and strategies may include retail, industrial, self-storage, multifamily residential, life sciences, data centers, student housing, and other areas informed by Hawkeye's research process.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting, Diligence & Investment Structuring

Lead underwriting and due diligence of sponsor partners, including evaluation of track records, management teams, organizational infrastructure, strategy, and alignment with Fund criteria. Structure and negotiate GP co-investment, whole equity, and corporate/balance sheet investments, including preferred structures with promote participation and other ownership-participation arrangements.

Direct underwriting and financial modeling of acquisitions and developments, including sensitivity analysis at the deal, sponsor, and Fund levels. Prepare Investment Memoranda, present recommendations to the Investment Committee, and coordinate legal documentation, closing, and third-party diligence.

Sponsor Sourcing & Relationship Development

Source, develop, and maintain a pipeline of operators, developers, and other real estate companies through direct outreach, industry engagement, and Hawkeye's research-driven sourcing process.

Lead post-investment asset and relationship management, including monitoring sponsor performance, reviewing business plans, capital budgets, and reporting, and supporting sponsors' platform growth.

Stakeholder Management & Capital Formation Support

Manage relationships with sponsors, joint venture partners, lenders, brokers, and institutional investors. Support capital formation efforts alongside the Client Solutions team as needed.

Team Leadership & Market Insight

Build, manage, and develop a junior team of analysts and associates, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and work product review. Monitor market trends, capital markets conditions, and sector dynamics with Hawkeye's Research, Strategy, and Sourcing function, while adhering to Investment Committee standards and fiduciary obligations.

Qualifications

BBA or bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, or a related field required; one or more of a relevant master's degree, MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 12 years of experience in real estate investment, with substantial experience at an institutional investment manager, fund sponsor, principal investor, or operator/developer.

Investment Expertise

Direct experience underwriting and structuring joint venture equity, GP co-investment, entity-level, or platform investments strongly preferred. Familiarity with promote structures, waterfalls, and GP economics is essential.

Transaction & Market Network

Experience originating and executing transactions with value-add, development, or opportunistic risk profiles across multiple property sectors. Broad network of operators, developers, JV partners, investment managers, and capital markets professionals across commercial real estate.

Skills

• Advanced financial modeling capabilities and strong presentation and written communication skills, including experience authoring Investment Committee materials.
• Strong negotiating skills and a sophisticated approach to multi-stakeholder relationship management.
• Confident managing and influencing internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, sponsors, institutional investors, and advisors.
• Excellent business acumen, creative problem solving, analytical rigor, and a detail-driven approach to due diligence.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop junior investment professionals.
• Results-driven and entrepreneurial, with maturity, integrity, fairness, empathy, and respect; takes fiduciary duty and firm reputation seriously.

Willingness to relocate to Austin, TX is required.
