The Supervisor Respiratory Therapy is responsible for planning, implementing, directing, and controlling activities and operations on the assigned shift in Respiratory Care. A Brief Overview The Supervisor Respiratory Therapy is responsible for planning, implementing, directing, and controlling activities and operations on the assigned shift in Respiratory Care. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

What you will do

• Develops and implements short term plans and schedules in order to keep operations moving smoothly.
• Develops and implements processes through orientation, training, and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved, and demonstrated throughout their employment.
• Assures day to day shift operations run smoothly and efficiently within established guidelines.
• Assist Director in Budget process and Human Resource utilization
• Evaluates performance of staff annually.
• Counsels and issues corrective action when necessary.
• Recommends hiring, promotion, and discharge of Associates.

Education/Formal Training Requirements

• Required - Associates Degree Respiratory Care
• Preferred - Associates Degree Allied Health
• Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Allied Health
• Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Care
• Preferred - Technical Degree or Diploma Respiratory Care

Work Experience Requirements

• Required - RRT 3-5 years

Licenses and Certifications Requirements

• Required - Registered Respiratory Therapist - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care
• Required - Registered Respiratory Therapist - National - National Board for Respiratory Care
• Required - BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
• Preferred - Registered Respiratory Therapist - Mississippi - Mississippi State Department of Health

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrable leadership potential.
• Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as patient records.
• Ability to communicate verbally with Associates and management and physicians.
• Knowledge of budget and financial management principles and methods.
• Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others' work flow.

Supervision Provided by this Position

• Supervises Respiratory staff within the department

Physical Demands

• The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
• Must have good balance and coordination.
• The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
• The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
• Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
• Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
• Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
