Job Description and Duties

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

The EDD Workforce Services Branch (WSB) is seeking an Analyst to join the Performance Management and Development Unit (PMDU) within the Deputy Director's Office. The Analyst will provide personnel support to more than 1,100 employees in over 60 offices statewide. Work includes consulting and providing direction to organizational leaders regarding: hiring support, leadership development support, progressive discipline support with an emphasis on prevention, performance reporting, developing educational tools and resources, implementing special projects, liaising with the EDD Human Resources Services Division, and other personnel matters.

The Analyst will work with WSB employees, managers, and leadership to research personnel issues, interpret policies and procedures, review information and documentation, identify concerns, and provide recommendations. The position will also develop training materials and resources and lead or participate in projects, workgroups, training, and process improvement efforts. This is an established position with existing processes, resources, and experienced leadership, with opportunities to improve processes and develop new tools. The primary customers are WSB managers and leadership, and the work requires strong communication, research, organization, and problem-solving skills. The position requires strong communication, research, and investigative problem-solving skills. The Analyst will review personnel information and data, research policies and procedures, identify trends or concerns, and provide information and recommendations to management.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works in an office setting located at 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, that is air conditioned and located in a high-rise building with elevator access. The work is performed in a cubicle or office with natural and artificial lighting. The position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, with employees working remotely an average of three (3) days per week, based on operational needs and management approval. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, frequent use of a computer and telephone, and occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of files or materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
