Physician Assistant PA Urgent Care

Overview Join Baylor Scott & White Health as a Physician Assistant in urgent care. Work in a patient‑centered environment recognized by U.S. News & World Report. Key Responsibilities Assess patients, perform comprehensive or problem‑focused physical examinations, and obtain medical histories. Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health‑care needs. Prescribe, recommend, and/or employ medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments and procedures, and perform indicated procedures in accordance with approved policies, with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost. Formulate and implement comprehensive outcomes‑based patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence‑based medicine, and professional guidelines, collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members when appropriate; evaluate patient response to care. Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management of illnesses, medication, nutrition, and health promotion; counsel on drug regimens, side effects, and interactions with other substances. Maintain accurate records detailing treatment plans and outcomes; initiate timely consultation and referral when scope of practice is exceeded. Provide consultation‑level services for conditions within specialty and training. Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and level of expertise as delegated by supervising physician. May be required to perform patient‑care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs. Key Success Factors Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment alternatives, drug properties, and preventive health‑care measures for injuries, diseases, and deformities. Knowledge of practices for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving skills. Computer proficiency. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes‑based treatment plans. Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification. Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Current Texas Physician Assistant license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire. Current NCCPA certification. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Minimum 1 year of clinical experience. Current Texas PA license. Current NCCPA certification.
