Payroll Manager

Primary Duties & Responsibilities Audit process of new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations are accurate and timely. Indirect supervisor for the payroll staff at our manufacturing sites. Critically review and analyze payroll benefit tax procedures to recommend and/or implement changes leading to best practices. Supervise and coordinate fiscal and calendar year-end processing of payroll, W-2 and other tax forms, and other government required documentation. Audit payroll year to date, fringe, etc. on all company codes for the Division. Complete month-end reconciliations for payroll liability accounts. Communicate actively with locations regarding deadlines, changes, etc. on payroll applications. Train team members and create training documentation on systems, procedures, and policies as necessary. Perform Sarbanes Oxley audits as required for the payroll department. Work with internal and external auditors. Control the ADP master file and any changes to custom calculations, feeds, etc. with all company codes. Prepare management reports as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance and/or equivalent experience and training. 7 to 10 years of payroll processing experience in a high-volume environment with a minimum of 2,000 employees on payroll Experience with ADP automated payroll systems is required. Ability to interpret time policies and apply to the payroll system is critical. Experience in applying state and federal wage and hour laws to the payroll system is required. Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state, and local levels. Previous supervisory experience required. Ability to effectively supervisor team members and work as a member of that team and organize work activities for other members of that team. Ability to maintain confidential information. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and implement process improvements. Strong customer service skills. Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow-through to resolve any outstanding issues. Strong time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Familiarity with SOX compliance is a plus. Working Conditions Travel required, mostly local to the greater Cleveland area. Physical Requirements Must be able to sit and work in an office environment for extended periods of time.
