Clinical Research Manager

Company: Epogee is a food science and lipid chemistry company developing novel structured lipids for the food industry. While this role will be listed through David’s hiring channels, the Associate Scientist, Quality will operate exclusively within Epogee’s independent team, leadership, and mission. Role and Responsibilities Epogee is seeking a Clinical Research Manager to design, review and lead research initiatives supporting novel food and ingredient research and innovation. This individual will combine deep technical understanding and experimental design skills with project management expertise to lead and accelerate in vitro and in vivo research that supports initiatives ranging from product claims to regulatory submissions. Working closely with internal analytical and regulatory teams as well as external CROs and academic partners, the Research Manager will use strong judgment and prioritization to determine when rapid, decisive action versus methodical planning and review is required, thereby setting a fast pace while maintaining scientific rigor and data integrity. What you’ll do: Design, execute, and oversee human clinical studies (e.g., tolerability, nutrient absorption, metabolic/energy studies) from protocol development through IRB/ethics submission and clinical site contracting Design and manage in vitro and in vivo bioassay studies to generate data supporting product safety and efficacy claims Serve as primary point of contact for CRO and academic research partners, managing scope, timelines, budget, and data quality across concurrent workstreams Compile and QC clinical/bioassay data packages supporting global regulatory submissions (e.g., GRAS, EFSA, etc.) Partner with internal analytical and regulatory teams to ensure study designs are defensible and aligned with submission requirements Prioritize and triage across active studies, distinguishing where rapid execution is appropriate from where more rigorous review is warranted MS/PhD or extensive industry experience in nutrition, physiology, or related field Experience designing, auditing and leading bioassay and clinical research studies with a proven track record of successful endpoints and high-quality data Experience designing clinical study protocols, working with IRBs/ethics submission reviews, and managing external research partners Ability to take a holistic and pragmatic view of study design, maintaining high-quality study design and defensible data while not getting lost in the weeds Prior experience managing CROs, academic research partners and research workstreams Familiarity with regulatory data requirements supporting global ingredient submissions This is a full-time, in-office role based in New York City. We work onsite five days a week- when the culture fits, it is fun to be in the office together. Salary: $120,000 - 140,000 per year, inclusive of bonus.
