We specialize in orthopedic surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, sports medicine, total joint replacement, hand and upper extremity, and neurosurgery. Position Overview We are hiring a Surgical Technologist Materials Manager. Responsibilities Ensure sterility of all supplies and instruments during the set up of surgical procedures. Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, including sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse. Assist in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment, and in handling gowns and gloves for surgeons and assistants. Maintain and update physician preference cards. Retain specimens for pathology and confirm specimen source/name with surgeons. Transport surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas and assist with the sterile supply, cleaning, and reprocessing of instrument sets. Interact appropriately and effectively with patients and staff regardless of age or ethnic background. Apply standard universal precautions, hand hygiene, PPE, and safe practices to ensure personal and environmental safety. Assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, and participate in emergency preparedness drills. Follow equipment and safety guidelines, ensuring knowledgeable use and care of equipment. Serve as a resource to other health‑care team members. Attend in‑services, conferences, and meetings as required. Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, office staff, patients, and employees while maintaining confidentiality. Maintain certifications such as CPR as offered by the center. Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center. Comply with policies and procedures and safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient‑care environment. Research and obtain pricing/quotes for medical equipment and supplies, maintaining files and knowledge of all USPI procurement requirements for acquisition, inventory, and disposal. Maintain adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and the automated inventory system, establishing par levels for all supplies. Ensure utilization of USPI national agreements. Interface with appropriate departments to ensure proper placement, follow‑up, and delivery of orders. Be responsible for the Utility Management Program, understanding facility maintenance such as oxygen, vacuum pumps, air filter exchanges, and security alarms. Interact with sales representatives to resolve supply or delivery issues. Ensure proper document flow and information updates for the automated inventory system. Receive all incoming supply and equipment items. Check supply‑dated items and rotate stock regularly. Implement and maintain all facets of the automated inventory system. Conduct quarterly physical inventory of implants and inventory items. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or at least two years of surgical technician experience. Preferred: prior experience in an ambulatory surgical center. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management. Understanding of aseptic techniques. Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions. Excellent team player with strong communication skills. Minimum two years of receipt and inventory experience in a health‑care environment.
