This full-service acute care hospital serves the Portsmouth, Virginia community with comprehensive inpatient, emergency, surgical, and specialty care services. The facility maintains established clinical infrastructure and protocols to support coordinated cardiothoracic surgery coverage throughout each assigned period. On-site resources are in place to facilitate quality care delivery for the cardiothoracic surgery service line.

Portsmouth, Virginia is a historic area offering a range of cultural and recreational activities suited to varied interests. The Olde Towne district serves as a hub for community events, with venues such as Festival Park and the Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center hosting regular programming. Clinicians on assignment will find options spanning dining, shopping, museums, outdoor kayaking through restored wetlands, live music, trivia nights, and recurring markets throughout the area.

Clinicians will provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient and clinic settings on a day shift basis, with call and 24-hour call responsibilities required as a condition of this assignment. The schedule follows a 2-week on/2-week off rotation, with night call from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM and 24-hour weekend call from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM. Clinical duties include rounding on approximately 5-10 adult patients and providing some outpatient clinic-based care. Prescriptive authority is required for this on-site engagement.
