Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist / Operator Job Description
This role focuses on operating and setting up CNC vertical mills to produce precision components for military and aerospace applications in a dynamic job shop environment. You will work on a variety of parts and batch sizes, performing multiple setups per day and occasionally supporting basic fabrication tasks as needed.
Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Fadal and Hurco vertical 3-axis and 4-axis milling machines to produce high-quality parts.
• Perform setups on CNC mills, including loading fixtures, setting tools, establishing work offsets, and verifying programs.
• Handle a mix of production-style runs and smaller one-off or short-run jobs, adjusting to changing priorities and part requirements each week.
• Complete between 1 to 5 setups per day, depending on job complexity and individual capability.
• Monitor machining operations to ensure parts meet specifications, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Inspect parts during and after machining using appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Assist with basic fabrication tasks when needed, supporting overall shop production requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including machines, tools, and workstations.
• Follow documented processes, work instructions, and safety procedures while handling materials and operating equipment.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve machining issues and continuously improve processes.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC vertical milling machines.
• Ability to perform multiple setups per day on CNC mills, including tooling, fixturing, and program verification.
• Familiarity with operating CNC Fadal and/or Hurco vertical 3-axis and 4-axis machines, or similar CNC mill platforms.
• Experience working in a job shop environment with frequently changing parts and batch sizes.
• Capability to run both production-style jobs and short-run or one-off parts with attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of basic machining principles, including feeds, speeds, and tool selection for milling operations.
• Ability to read and interpret machining instructions and follow established processes.
• Willingness to occasionally assist with fabrication tasks when required.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a CNC mill operator in a job shop or similar setting.
• Exposure to machining components for military, aerospace, or other high-reliability applications.
• Comfort working on both 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling operations.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new jobs, part configurations, and changing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing machining issues.
• Attention to detail and a focus on producing accurate, high-quality parts.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Chaska, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $58240.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
