Senior Accountant

Job Description

A real estate investment and property management company is seeking a Staff Accountant to support accounting across multiple properties and legal entities. This position offers broader exposure to general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and property and development activity within a growing real estate portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.
\n
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and supporting schedules.
\n
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
\n
• Maintain accurate general ledger activity across multiple properties and entities.
\n
• Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and unusual transactions.
\n
• Assist with financial statements, reporting schedules, audits, and year-end documentation.
\n
• Review and code vendor invoices by property, entity, and general ledger account.
\n
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies.
\n
• Reconcile corporate credit card activity and allocate expenses accurately.
\n
• Coordinate with property management and development teams to validate operating and project-related expenses.
\n
• Follow internal controls, accounting procedures, and approval requirements.
\n

Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
\n
• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
\n
• Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
\n
• Accounts payable experience, including invoice coding, payment processing, and vendor reconciliations.
\n
• Experience working across multiple properties, companies, or legal entities.
\n
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
\n
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and large data sets.
\n
• Real estate, property management, or multi-entity accounting experience preferred.
\n
• Yardi Voyager or similar property accounting software experience is a plus.
\n
• Ability to independently investigate discrepancies and manage competing deadlines.
\n
