Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Nights or Nights based on unit needs); shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs.

Highlights:

• 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to Progressive Care level of acuity
• Patient diagnoses include solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for PCU patients, 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry patients
• Epic charting system with GE telemetry monitoring
• Oncology experience preferred but not required; RNs with ICU and PCU backgrounds thrive in this role
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, PT, Radiology, and Rapid Response Teams

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience (must be current within the last 12 months)
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience with high-acuity patients
• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Certifications: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Epic charting experience required
• Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Two professional references required: at least one from a manager/director or formal supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference

Essential Skills:

• Interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias and Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• IV therapy including starting and maintaining IVs, accessing ports, and PICC line management
• Central and peripheral line care and management
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• Cardiac drip management and titration
• PCA pump operation and feeding tube care
• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Respiratory support: nasal cannula, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Use of Rapid Response Teams and isolation precautions/PPE

Preferred Skills:

• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Arterial line management and phlebotomy
• Wound care and wound VAC management
• Surgical drain management
• Non-invasive airway management

Unit Equipment:

• GE telemetry monitoring system (B450 monitors)
• Alaris IV pumps and PCA pumps
• Stryker beds and bladder scanners
• Continuous Bladder Irrigation systems

Orientation & Support:

• 72 hours of comprehensive unit orientation
• Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• One pre-approved time off period available

Important Compliance Information:

• Strict compliance deadline: Tuesday prior to start date with no exceptions
• Ohio fingerprinting required urgently upon contract signing; candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing
• Candidates within driving distance of Ohio must complete fingerprinting in-state as soon as possible after booking
• Former employees eligible after 6+ months away from the facility; current employees ineligible for travel assignments
