About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Acute Leukemia & Hematology Unit – Ohio

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating or Night shift available). Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs. Weekend coverage variable based on unit requirements.

Highlights:

• Specialized acute leukemia and hematology unit caring primarily for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
• Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, maximum 1:5
• 12-week travel assignment with 72 hours of orientation
• Epic electronic charting system
• 24-bed unit with daily census of approximately 22 patients
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, Physical Therapy, and more
• No chemotherapy certification required (ONS Chemo Cert preferred but not mandatory)

Requirements:

• Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU/stepdown experience (experience must be current within the last 12 months)
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, central line management, PICC lines, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Epic charting system experience required
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)

Clinical Focus:

• Adult and geriatric patient population
• High-acuity medical unit with emphasis on blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
• Feeding tube care and management
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• May float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed
