Senior CustodianCompensation Range: $20/hr - $24/hr commensurate with experienceBenefits: We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. This money is available for tuition loan reimbursement, tuition costs, and text books.Overview: The Senior Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining Housing Works' Pitkin Avenue Residence and its grounds, painting and plastering, and conducting minor carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical repairs on building fixtures, equipment, and hardware.Responsibilities:Adhere to the custodial and preventative maintenance plan to ensure that the buildings' common spaces, bathrooms, offices, residential spaces, Laundry Rooms, and the building's grounds are clean, sanitary, and properly stocked with supplies.Put out trash at the buildings in accordance with NYC guidelines.Assist in the apartment/room turnover process by cleaning out and preparing apartments for new residents, utilizing trade skills for minor repairs, e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, and heating and cooling.Requirements:High School Diploma or GED preferred.Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities, as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.Demonstrated ability to think critically and exercise good judgment, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal day-to-day supervision in a fast-paced environment.Exceptional computer software skills, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and working familiarity with Salesforce or similar platforms.Housing Works was founded in 1990; with a long-term commitment to AIDS advocacy.
