About the Role

The Company is in search of an Associate Vice President for E&S Property Underwriting. The successful candidate will be tasked with underwriting new and renewal E&S property business, with a focus on maintaining profitability and managing a diverse portfolio of middle market and large property risks. This role requires a professional with a strong background in E&S business, capable of evaluating complex property risks, including those that are CAT-exposed, and managing difficult-to-place business. The AVP will also be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with wholesale brokers and key distribution partners, as well as negotiating terms to achieve profitable growth objectives. Applicants for the AVP E&S Property Underwriter position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree (preferred) and a minimum of 8 years' commercial property underwriting experience, with a specific emphasis on E&S property underwriting. The role demands a candidate with a proven track record in underwriting various property types, including commercial, shared and layered programs, and those with CAT exposures. Strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and mentor junior underwriters. The ideal candidate will have experience in a carrier or MGA underwriting background, with a focus on portfolio management and a strong understanding of catastrophe exposures and reinsurance considerations. Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, ARM, or similar are also preferred.
