Emergency Department Physician Opportunity

Mount Desert Island Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Department Physician to join our team. This full-time position (3040 hours/week) involves 12-hour shifts across days, nights, and evenings, with weekend and holiday coverage (average of two weekends per month). The Emergency Department Physician plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our community, in alignment with our mission and values. Responsibilities include direct patient care in the emergency room setting, diagnosis and treatment of acute conditions, accurate documentation, collaboration with physician supervisors, and active participation in departmental quality improvement initiatives.

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

1. Current Maine MD/DO license.

2. Supervisory experience preferred.

Experience Required:

Five year or more experience in Medical field preferred.

Cognitive Requirements:

1. Emotional maturity and good people skills required.

2. Ability to work with distressed or anxious patients, family members, or employees required.

3. Possesses basic computer skills.

Physical Demands:

1. Able to perform under stress.

2. Slight physical effort, typical of most office jobs. May involve extended periods of sitting.

3. Has adequate hearing, vision, speech, and manual dexterity.

Environment:

1. Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
