Physician Assistant II - Emergency Medicine

The Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care services to patients in an emergency and trauma unit under the direction and responsibility of a physician. The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) is an academic hospital. The Emergency Department (ED) has approximately 50,000 visits annually. There are 60 patient care rooms, 6 trauma/critical care resuscitation rooms, and a secure 13 bed psychiatric unit. JHBMC is a level 2 trauma center and Maryland’s only regional burn center. You will have the opportunity to develop your emergency medical procedure skills for a wide variety of urgent and emergent patients care scenarios ( intubation, arterial line placement, paracentesis, pigtail and large chest tube placement, joint reductions, suturing and more ) The PA conducts physical exams, diagnoses and treats illnesses, orders and interprets tests, counsels on preventative care, assists in trauma and critical care, and writes prescriptions as needed.

Shifts: Part- Time, 20 hours per week, 12-hour rotating shifts; weekends

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in a Physician Assistant Program; Master’s preferred
• Current Maryland Physician Assistant license; Board certified PA
• Maryland CDS (prescription) and DEA (narcotics) licensure required
• Current BLS Healthcare provider and ACLS certification required
• 2-years of Emergency room work experience highly preferred; new graduates will be considered for PA position
• Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required

You must be fully credentialled by the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Board to start working as an PA.

Salary Range: Minimum 60.93/hour - Maximum 94.45/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
