Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Hire) Location: Newark, NJ (5 days/week onsite) Pay Rate: $33-35/hour Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire A well-established nonprofit organization serving the Newark community is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to gain hands‑on experience in a mission-driven environment. Responsibilities Assist with month-end and year-end close activities Prepare and post journal entries Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Maintain general ledger accuracy and support financial reporting Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes Support audit preparation and provide requested documentation Track and analyze financial transactions to ensure compliance with accounting policies Assist with budget monitoring and variance analysis Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation Support special projects and other accounting duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required 1-2+ years of accounting experience Understanding of basic accounting principles and GAAP Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Experience with Sage MIP preferred, but not required Nonprofit accounting experience preferred, but not required Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Vaco Recruiter Services
