Principal (FT-12 month)

Eastern Suffolk BOCES Department of Special Education Vacancy: Principal (FT-12 month) ESBOCES is looking for an experienced leader who has experience navigating multiple constituents, agencies and audiences to run successful programming in support of adult learners. This critical position reports to the Director of Special Education, and serves as a leader within the department, agency and the region to promote the development and delivery of special education services. Qualifications: NYS SDA OR SAS/SBL Certification Strong communication/interpersonal skills Experience with students with special needs Responsibilities: Create, share and role model the mission and vision of the agency Lead and supervise a diverse staff Supervise and direct school operations in accordance with Board policies and regulations Knowledge and experience with NYS Learning Standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessments Create and manage a warm, welcoming, and affirming work environment Work with parents to develop an educational team for each student Responsible to hire a diverse staff Comply with all APPR requirements and collective bargaining agreements, completing observations and evaluations Provide strong collaborative leadership with an honest, transparent and inclusive style that supports high student outcomes and educational excellence Build trusting relationships with staff and students Establish and maintain a safe and secure learning environment Work with component school districts to develop comprehensive plans for our students Develop professional development plans to implement strengths and offset weaknesses for all staff Maintain an active Crisis Prevention Intervention certification and provide needed trainings Develop action plans related to Strategic Planning Extensive knowledge in Part 200 Regulations Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to high achievement, social-emotional, and whole child development of all students Knowledge of graduation requirements Salary: $158,375 Equal Opportunity Employer Start Date: As soon as possible Please submit a job specific cover letter and resume by Monday, July 27, 2026 IEastern Suffolk BOCES ..----- Studies show that women and members of some groups are more likely to underestimate their qualifications fora position.
