Staff Accountant

Indirect Tax Compliance Prepare and assist with sales and use tax returns , ensuring timely and accurate filings. Process and track tax payments across jurisdictions. Reconcile sales tax accounts and resolve discrepancies. Maintain documentation to support filings and audits. Account Reconciliations & Financial Controls Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations (cash, accruals, tax accounts, etc.). Investigate variances and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items. Support period‑end close processes and ensure adherence to deadlines. Assist in maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness. Property & Franchise Tax Filings Coordinate and prepare property tax and franchise tax filings . Track filing deadlines and ensure compliance across jurisdictions. Work with external advisors, where applicable, to support filings and documentation. Corporate Tax Support Assist in the preparation of support schedules and documentation for corporate income tax returns (prepared by third‑party advisors). Liaise with external tax providers to ensure timely submission of required data. Maintain supporting workpapers and audit trails. Business Licenses & Regulatory Compliance Manage and track business license renewals across jurisdictions. Ensure timely submission of renewals and associated payments. Maintain a centralized tracker of license requirements and deadlines. Process Improvement & Reporting Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automate processes . Support documentation of accounting procedures and process flows. Assist in preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting or corporate environment preferred). Exposure to multi‑state or cross‑border environments (US/Canada) is a plus. Technical Skills Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP preferred) . Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365, etc.) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas). Familiarity with tax compliance tools or software is a plus. Core Competencies High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. Effective communication skills with both internal teams and external advisors. Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
