Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or equivalent. Other Requirements: • Must have a valid driver's license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Preferred Requirements: • Level II or III security guard license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. • Military police experience. • Military experience. • Experience in the use of firearms. Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be from an accredited educational institution. This position is subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing and any offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results from a drug screen conducted for the agency. This position is subject to a written exercise and a physical fitness assessment. Requirements for continued employment: • Maintain a valid driver's license. • Failure to maintain required license will result in termination of employment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of secure facility gatehouse operations. • Knowledge of emergency reporting procedures. • Skill in meeting and handling individuals entering and exiting a security environment. • Skill in monitoring and assessing situations. • Skill in determining appropriate response. • Skill in use of monitoring, surveillance, and detection equipment. • Ability to enforce security rules and regulations. • Ability to remain alert, observant, and physically able to respond appropriately to work situations or emergencies including, but not limited to, physical restraint of youth. • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations. • Ability to communicate effectively. • Ability to maintain and keep accurate records, files, or logs. • Ability to train others. • Ability to conduct fire drills. • Ability to analyze situations quickly and take effective action. • Ability to follow of the ethical standards of the Office of Inspector General. • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. • Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders and maintain a professional, courteous demeanor. • Ability to process information logically, make decisions, and demonstrate the soundness of those decisions. • Ability to successfully complete a written exercise and physical fitness assessment. • Ability to work in excess of 40 hours per work week and be on-call.
