Manager Statistical Programming

Location: Maris Grove by Erickson Senior Living SUMMARY: The Programming Manager plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Continuing Care Program in accordance with Federal, State, and County regulations and established Erickson Living policies and procedures. Provides and assures that an ongoing program of therapeutic and recreational activities stimulates the physical, intellectual, spiritual, creative, recreational, social, and emotional needs and well-being of the residents residing in Continuing Care while promoting or maintaining their highest level of independence and abilities. Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 per year commiserate with experience. Person Centered Approach Summary: The Continuing Care team is committed to serving residents in all aspects of their daily lives and assisting with the day-to-day functioning of the neighborhood. Members of the Continuing Care team will develop relationships with the residents and their families using a consistent caregiver approach; supporting the residents’ physical, spiritual, emotional, and clinical needs and focusing on placing the residents first. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintains Erickson Senior Living’s philosophy and “Vision” statement. 2. Provides an environment that promotes and supports an active, healthy, and independent lifestyle in accordance with the abilities of each resident. 3. Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the activity programs of Continuing Care. 4. Adapts programming based on the level of the resident’s abilities, both physical and cognitive. 5. Assesses residents’ needs and limitations on an ongoing basis for program planning and holistic assessment / MDS completion. Interact directly with residents and family when able, to gather information for assessments, MDS, and care plans. 6. Provides proper documentation including weekly schedules, holistic assessments, care plans, and MDS as necessary. 7. Reviews resident assessments completed by Program Assistants / Coordinators to ensure appropriate and preference-based programming. 8. Participates and or designate appropriate staff to participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Care Planning process. 9. Responsible for marketing CC programming philosophy internally and externally to residents, families, and staff. 10. Provides oversight of the delivery of customized, individualized resident services. Create weekly schedules (daily schedules are optional based on resident preference) and special event flyers to be posted in a conspicuous ongoing location in each neighborhood. Weekly schedules and special event flyers should relate to the particular neighborhood where posted and copies are made available to residents and their families per request. 11. Responsible for developing, administering, and coordinating departmental policies and procedures and conducting an ongoing review of these policies. 12. Designs and plans therapeutic and recreational activity programs using own skill areas of specialty. 13. Determines the need for activity supplies, identify vendors, generate supply lists, order supplies, and label and distribute supplies where needed. 14. Interviews, hires, supervises, evaluates, and term CC program department staff. 15. Supervises programming department staff members daily. 16. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development; plans and/or participates in conferences and classes to improve knowledge and practice in resident care; attends in-service programs that are provided to facilitate compliance with government regulations. 17. Seeks outside resources through universities, community, and professional networks. Provide oversight of outside groups which provide on-site educational and recreational programs. 18. Ensures CC program staff complies with Federal, State, and County requirements related to activity program documentation, including weekly schedules, holistic assessments, MDS, and Care Plans. 19. Participates in the yearly budget planning process; identifying and justifying payroll and department supply needs. Submit to Administrator of Continuing Care for review, recommendations and approval. 20. Maintains current written records of department expenditures and assures that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted upon request as necessary including monthly variance reporting. 21. Educates staff and volunteers regarding residents’ abilities, psychosocial needs, and therapeutic interventions during in-service training and staff meeting. Serve as a resource person and role model for others. 22. Develops, conducts, and documents in-service programs for staff and volunteers specific to their needs and experience also to include any regulatory training requirements. 23. Creates partnerships with all departments to stimulate and promote a social and home-like atmosphere resulting in a warm and inspirational environment for residents which creates community, celebrates life, and allows them to share their gifts. 24. Participates in CC QAPI, operations team meetings, financial reviews, and all other meetings as appropriate. 25. Coordinates entertainment, trips, resident volunteer opportunities, intergenerational programs, multiple musical opportunities, creative / self-expression opportunities, gender-specific programs, and sensorimotor – physical and cognitive stimulation through the senses. 26. Creates ongoing programs that support resident choice and preference of activity programs. 27. Supports guided self-directed and structured programs in Memory Care programs. Ability to create resident preference based activity program. Ability to multi-task with exceptional time management skills. Responsible for maintaining and adhering to allocated budget. Understanding of the dementia process and its impact on activity programming Exceptional customer service, problem solving, time management, and leadership skills. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed or registered, if applicable, by the State in which practicing; and is certified as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body is required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Activity/Recreation/Program Manager/Director in a geriatric setting or 4 years as a Programming Assistant or 1 year as a Program Coordinator is required. Education will be considered in lieu of experience. May be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant or completed a training course approved by the State. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: ADCP (Activity Director Certified Provisional) or ADC (Activity Director Certified) is required. CPR Certification required. ACC (Activity Consultant Certified), or CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) is preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Resident programs are conducted in a variety of settings including resident’s private rooms, common areas in the community building, patios and other outside areas, resident shuttle bus, and outside venues such as parks, arenas, theaters, and restaurants. Programming assistants will be exposed to seasonal weather changes. Frequent exposure to residents, families, and visitors in a healthcare setting. Erickson Living Communities operate on a 24/7 schedule. Therefore, an employee may be required to work additional hours or a varied schedule due to inclement weather or other emergency situations. ROUTINE DECISION MAKING: Decisions required in staff management. FORMAL POLICY-SETTING RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides input into policies.
